Dear Isla,

Happy First Birthday, my sweet little tootsie!

I am so amazed by you. You are even sweeter today than you were on the day you were born. You bring so much joy, light, laughter and excitement to our lives. Every day is a great day because I get to spend it with you. These all may be very cheesy sayings but they ring true to me more than you will ever know.

I hope a lot of things for you in this next year but the biggest being happiness. I want you to be as happy as you were last night when you were given your birthday gift from your Aunt and Uncle, a unicorn chair, and you smiled and kissed it and couldn’t stop hugging it. That’s the kind of joy I want you to have every day!

I want to be able to bottle up your joy because it is the purest joy in the whole entire world. You are the purest, most joyful, most wonderful little girl. Your dad and I are so proud of you and every little milestone you meet. We are your biggest cheerleaders today, forever.

What I want you to know when you are older and you read this very first letter I ever wrote to you is, how much you are loved. We cannot imagine what life is going to bring into your life, but we hope you always know how much we love you, how much your grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, friends and sometimes even strangers love you. You brighten everyone’s day + you make this world a happier and better place because you are in it.

After one year my love for you is so great that I am sure I cannot love you any more, but every day I wake up and my heart is a little bigger because of you.

I like you for always, I love you forever, as long as I’m living my baby you’ll be.
