Tip for a Tuesday | Three Favorite Unposed Prompts for Couples

Last week I explained what Unposed photography means, so if you are confused by the title of this blog post you can find that explanation right HERE!

Today I wanted to share three of my favorite unposed prompts when working with couples! These three prompts help my clients relax during the session & it helps me create a gallery full of moments instead of strictly posed photographs!

  1. Hold hands and slow motion run towards the camera

I have my clients hold hands and while looking at each other I have them slow motion run towards the camera. This creates natural movement with their bodies, but it also usually creates a laugh as well because…well….when is the last time you slow-motion ran?

2. Sneak up and scare

I have one of the individuals back up about ten steps from their partner. I then tell the partner standing ten steps behind to sneakily walk up/run up to their partner and scare them with love. This always gets big natural smiles from everyone!

3. First Dance

This one is especially fun to do with newly engaged couples! I tell them we are going to get them ready for their first dance and I have them practice their dance. Usually it is close to the middle school dance pose, so I usually prompt them to make sure their belly buttons are touching and to swing their lovely bride around a few times!

Doing unposed prompts throughout my sessions allows me to really capture who my couples are & capture some really unique and amazing moments! I hope at your next session you can try and incorporate a few of those unposed prompts to spice up your session!

XO,
Mary
