Tip for a Tuesday | What is Unposed?

Unposed photography is becoming more and more popular these days, but it can be confusing if you are unsure of what it actually is!

To me, unposed photography is almost exactly what it sounds like. It is a photography session where you don’t just get told what to do, where to stand, an dhow to look perfect for a still photo, but an experience using prompts and games to create a interactive session.

Holly and I fall into a category between posed and unposed photographers. We have our “staple” posed photographs we love to achieve throughout a session or wedding day. The ones we know you need – such as everyone looking at the camera and smiling without anything crazy happening in or around the rest of the frame. But we also have a pocketful of games and unposed prompts we use to help create a full experience of MEMORIES and MOMENTS.

We want you to think back to your session with Merry Character Photography and remember the super fun, memorable experience you received along with beautiful images you want to share with your friends and family!

So for the sake of my tendency to ramble, unposed photography is basically a photography session where you are told to do actions to create moments, instead of just stand-still type of photos! It can be VERY fun if done right, for both you and your photographer!

XO,
Mary
